Just got engaged, or still finalising a 2027 date? This is exactly the right time to start looking at your DJ — not next spring. If you’re planning a wedding near Bordeaux from abroad, here’s why this autumn is the most strategic moment of your entire planning, and what it changes in practice.
The calendar, seen from behind the decks
A DJ can only play one wedding per evening. The useful season — May to September — holds roughly twenty Saturdays. For 2027, those are already filling up: couples who confirmed their date this summer have, for the most part, already reached out to suppliers. The mechanical result: the longer you wait, the fewer options remain — not just DJs, but venues, caterers, photographers. The whole industry runs on the same rhythm, and international couples planning from a distance have less margin for last-minute scrambling.
What you gain by booking early
- Real choice. At 12 months out, you can compare suppliers, ask for references, have a real conversation before committing. At 4 months before a June Saturday, you take what’s left.
- Time to build, not just book. Great musical direction takes preparation: several conversations, a playlist that evolves, real thought on the first dance. Booking early means giving that process room to breathe — the opposite of a DJ who shows up with a generic playlist.
- Peace of mind from abroad. One major decision settled while you’re juggling flights, visas for guests, and everything else that comes with planning a wedding across borders.
The dates that go first
Unsurprisingly: June and September Saturdays (mild weather, past the summer heat peak), May bank holiday weekends, and any date with personal significance. If your heart is set on one of these, the safe booking window stretches to 12-18 months, not 9-12.
If your date isn’t fixed yet
Good news: you have flexibility that already-booked couples don’t. Two simple levers to make securing your preferred supplier easier:
- Consider a Friday or Sunday instead of Saturday — demand is noticeably lower, availability far better, and often a gentler price.
- Look at shoulder season (April, October) — our partner châteaux are just as stunning outside July-August, often with beautiful autumn light and more accessible venue rates.
What this means for your budget
Booking early doesn’t cost more — it’s the opposite: most suppliers, us included, honour the rate from the year you sign. Our current base rate of €2,390 is what you lock in by signing now for 2027 — not a rate that gets revised next year.
Your next step
You don’t need everything decided. A simple 15-minute discovery call — your date (or shortlist), your venue (even tentative), rough guest count — is enough to know if we’re the right fit, with zero commitment. Request your quote: you’ll receive a detailed proposal within 48 hours, in English, while your date stays open as you figure out the rest.
